"As a first time mother, I definitely saw the need for a doula and after my husband and I first met with Nicole, we both knew immediately that she would be the perfect person to help us welcome our baby boy into this world. Throughout my pregnancy, Nicole was a very valuable asset to both my husband and I. She not only was there to answer any and all questions but she provided us with all the information we needed to develop the birth plan that best fit us.
Having a doula allowed my husband and I to truly relax during labour as we felt confident in the advice she provided us with. My husband always referred to her as his "cheat sheet" because if he didn't know what to do he knew he could lean on Nicole to provide possible options.
We would have never achieved the birth story that we have to tell today without a doula. When we both wanted to give up, Nicole was there to give us confidence and remind us both of the birth we wanted. "Being new in town and first time parents away from family and friends, we decided to hire Nicole to help us with the birth of our daughter. We interviewed a few local doulas, but decided to go with Nicole because we were impressed with her passion and knowledge, and were drawn to her upbeat personality. "I (Victoria) has a condition called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome which brought it's own unique challenges on our sometimes bumpy road to parenthood. Nicole helped us navigate and come up with plans to help handle issues as they arose, taking the time to get to know us as a family (even some of the extended), my condition, and build relationship with grace, humor, and expertise.
Throughout the pregnancy, eventual induction, and emergency c-section, Nicole worked with us as we explored our options helping us have the best pregnancy we could while keeping our ultimate goal in mind – healthy mom and healthy baby.
Nicole continued to be an immeasurable source after JJ’s arrival, reassuring us that we weren’t alone, presenting options for parenting challenges to our sleep deprived brains, and supplying emotional support through her presence and the occasional (amazing) baked good ;)
